CRUISE NIGHTS, CARS & COFFEES (& Other Recurring Car Gatherings)

*We are now in process of building up our 2024 event listings... The 2024s are being highlighted in LIME... As always, we welcome you to please send us your CT Shoreline-area old car event listings (NOTE - we make no claim to be "state-comprehensive" with our car event listings--there are many other excellent resources out there for event listings to the east, west, and north of us--our "sweet spot" for event listings, and what we naturally give priority to, is the central part of the CT Shoreline).

This Calendar is originated and periodically updated by the Shoreline Antique Auto Connection, a not-for-profit enterprise run for antique auto enthusiasts, by antique auto enthusiasts. As the information presented here is gleaned from a WIDE variety of sources, there is no way we can vouch for the truth or accuracy of anything, and we STRONGLY suggest you get in touch with the applicable event contacts listed, to make sure the event is indeed going to be held (especially before you make a long trip to attend!). Thank you. SAAC, P.O. Box 3353, Stony Creek, CT 06405, e-mail CommonGear@aol.com, web site http://www.shorelineantiqueautoconnection.com/ . Please send your CT Shoreline-area event listings for inclusion here (non-marque-specific events preferred).

WHY DO WE DO THIS? - We maintain this Calendar as a service to our fellow local-area antique auto enthusiasts! It's not perfect, but we always work very hard at it, and try to verify as much as possible everything that we publish. And we love to share it! We are not professionals at this--only enthusiasts who enjoy the old car hobby. What would really make us happy, however, is that those who may like to copy and paste our exhaustively researched (always with sources credited), written-out & detailed listings for their own web site use, to please occasionally give us a little bit of a shout-out! Thanks for your understanding and support! See you out there at the shows & cruises!

MAY 11, 2024, Saturday, Guilford – “…’Classic Car Show at Solstice Senior Living in Guilford – Part of the ‘Second Annual Motorcycle Ride’/’Coffee And’… 11:00am-onward…”… webmaster’s note – I don’t know much about this event, nor who the organizers are, but I am very interested and plan to do my best to get over to Solstice Senior Living in Guilford (located at 201 Granite Road, Guilford, CT 06437, web site: https://solsticeseniorlivingguilford.com/ and/or on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/SolsticeSeniorLivingGuilford/ - make sure to visit and give ‘em a “Like”) with my old car for the “Classic Car Show” that’s advertised as a part of the overall motorcycle-centered event, that starts in Branford, and heads to Solstice in Guilford, for what sounds like a lot of fun and socializing with the senior citizens there, hopefully providing them with a fun event also! From reading the flyer, it sounds like the motorcycle folks have another ride planned AFTER the Solstice event, so I’m not quite sure how long the event at Solstice will last, but speaking for myself anyway, I like the casual spirit that comes across in the flyer, and I suspect that a classic car owner could stay as short or long there as they wished... Anyway, I will transcribe the entire (electronic) flyer, which I received from a fellow local old car buddy (thanks again Joe for passing along the info!): “…SECOND ANNUAL MOTORCYCLE RIDE – Join us at Solstice Senior Living in Guilford for a ‘Coffee And’… This ride is all about bringing smiles to senior citizens. We did it last year and it was an awesome experience for everyone involved. This year, we’re adding some karaoke and hoping to get the seniors up and dancing, along with a classic car show! (webmaster’s note – That was my underlining)… All we ask is that you bring a smile and a bag of hard candy to donate to the seniors…. Meeting Point: Saturday, May 11th at 10:00am, Freedom Road Harley, 557 West Main Street, Branford… Kick Stands Up: 10:30a, sharp. Please gas up and be ready to roll at 10:30am… Ride To: Solstice Senior Living in Guilford, 201 Granite Road, Guilford… Hang out with seniors, have some fun, and then embark on a ride to be determined, with lunch plans to be determined… We should arrive at the Senior Center around 11:00am. Feel free to join us at Freedom or meet us directly at the senior center. All are welcome. Let’s make it a memorable ride!... Rain date = Saturday, May 18th… Please contact Pete Roberts or Brenda Toto via FB messenger with any questions…”… webmaster’s additional note – I looked up both names on Facebook, and it appears that Pete Roberts’ Facebook handle is: https://www.facebook.com/pete.roberts.12 , and Brenda Toto on Facebook appears to be at: https://www.facebook.com/brenda.molitortoto ... And there you have it! Don’t forget the bag of hard candy to bring along!... (this event was added to this calendar as of 1/13/2024)

Benefiting a great organization—the Byram Volunteer Fire Department, AND promoting an outstanding pet adoption organization—a lot to like! Kudos to all involved, and here’s hoping that the 2nd Annual version is another whopping success!... (this event was added to this calendar as of 1/23/2024)

CRUISE NIGHTS, CARS & COFFEES (& Other Recurring Car Gatherings)

IMPORTANT: Since the world of Cruise Night listings seems to be especially filled with old, out-of-date information--which has, on occasion, led to frustrating drives to non-existent cruises (we speak from direct personal experience!)--we've decided to do our best to only list confirmed listings (though we still urge you to call ahead before making any long trips, since we cannot guarantee anything), which we'll clearly highlight with a noticeable color--we have been alternating red and fuchsia in recent years to highlight the most recent years' listings. *1/15/2024 UPDATE - Will use LIME for the new 2024 listings!!... Anyway, now that it's the New Year, if you have any confirmed 2024 cruise and/or recurring-type event listings, please send us yours--especially those Shoreline-oriented, for inclusion here--Thanks!...

(*UPDATED FOR 2024*) SUNDAYS (starts 4/14/2024; other selected dates) Darien (appears to be confirmed for 2024) – “…2024 Cars & Coffee Darien – Every 2nd Sunday of the Month At Goodwives Shopping Center – Held on the Site of the Original Cannonball…”… Quoting from Eric Richmond’s (https://www.facebook.com/erichmond53/) post of 1/9/2024 to his Facebook page: “…Announcing the 2024 schedule for Cars and Coffee Darien, 2nd Sunday of every month starting Sunday, April, 14th. (***UPDATED FOR 2023***) SUNDAYS (informal gatherings throughout the year; big ‘Official’ gatherings on specific dates), New Canaan (appears to be confirmed for 2023) - “…’Caffeine and Carburetors,’ Presented by Zumbach’s Coffee of New Canaan… 8:00am to 11:00am, at Pine Street in New Canaan, CT 08840…”… We are taking the Caffeine and Carburetors official web site (https://caffeineandcarburetors.com/) as the Official Word on these dates. Beyond the Sunday, May 21st Pine Street date, the two other “Official Dates” for these amazing gatherings are Sunday, September 17th at Pine Street, and Sunday, October 22nd, at Waveny Park, which is also in New Canaan… More info - Following is a description for one of these “big ‘Official’ events” (there are also informal “Lite” ones that happen pretty much throughout the year—I’ll get to those later), that I lifted from a “Cars And Coffee Events” (https://carsandcoffeeevents.com/) dedicated info page for one of the big “Official” events: “…Caffeine & Carburetors is a gathering of automotive enthusiasts. We meet at Zumbach’s Gourmet Coffee in New Canaan, CT to enjoy our rides and share them with like-minded gear heads hiding in and around Connecticut and New York. Smaller, informal gatherings occur every Sunday morning throughout the year with 4 larger events in the spring, summer, and fall. This is one of those larger events… We have a tendency to lean toward sports cars, with the occasional Model A or 1920's Rolls Royce, but our emphasis is on foreign sports cars. We enjoy all vehicles and there are no sponsorships or awards… Doug Zumbach began hosting these gatherings in 1995. These Sundays start around 8 am to gather and enjoy a cup of coffee followed by a leisurely drive through the countryside… Caffeine and Carburetors is a way to indulge the gear head in all of us… Being a gathering and not a juried event, there is no registration, and events are free for all… The event officially starts at 8:00 am, but if you’re showing your car, plan on getting there at the crack of dawn to get a good parking space….”… And now let’s get to the “Lite” info, as promised - Now what about these Caffeine and Carburetors “Lite” events, that happen on Sunday mornings throughout the year? I will quote from another Cars And Coffee Events info page, that describes these much more informal happenings: “…Caffeine & Carburetors is a gathering of automotive enthusiasts. We meet at Zumbach’s Gourmet Coffee in New Canaan, CT to enjoy our rides and share them with like-minded gear heads hiding in and around Connecticut and New York. Smaller, informal gatherings occur every Sunday morning throughout the year with 4 larger events in the spring, summer, and fall… We have a tendency to lean toward sports cars, with the occasional Model A or 1920's Rolls Royce, but our emphasis is on foreign sports cars. We enjoy all vehicles and there are no sponsorships or awards… Doug Zumbach began hosting these gatherings in 1995. These Sundays start around 8 am to gather and enjoy a cup of coffee followed by a leisurely drive through the countryside… Caffeine and Carburetors is a way to indulge the gear head in all of us… Being a gathering and not a juried event, there is no registration, and events are free for all…”… And there you have it!... One more bit of info - Don’t forget to check out the Caffeine & Carburetors Facebook page (and give ‘em a “Like” while you’re there), online at: https://www.facebook.com/CaffeineandCarburetors ... OH! for Shoreliners - If you’re from the central CT Shoreline area, our friend Joe from Northeast Porsche Owners (https://www.facebook.com/northeastporscheowners) organizes drives from our area down to Caffeine & Carburetors in New Canaan occasionally—drop him a line for more info: northeastporscheowners@gmail.com… Ok, I think we may have finally covered everything!... (this cruise/recurring event was added to this calendar as of 2/10/2023)

No speeding to/from event, no engine revving, no burnouts… Join us Sunday, April 30th, 2023, 9-11am, at Moroso, 80 Carter Drive, Guilford, CT… Coffee & breakfast sandwiches available to purchase…”… webmaster’s note – We saw this event pop up within the last day or so on the Facebook system, via the CT Shoreline Cars & Coffee page (https://www.facebook.com/ctshorelinecarsandcoffee - make sure to visit and give ‘em a “Like” while you’re there!), and with an animated banner from which all of the above info was transcribed, and this additional note: “…WE'RE BACK!!!! (https://www.moroso.com/ and/or on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/morosoperformance/ - make sure to visit and give ‘em a “Like”), 80 Carter Drive, Guilford, CT and we couldn't have dreamt of a better spot. It's easy on and off I-95 at exit 59. We would like to thank the Moroso team for reaching out to us and generously offering their parking lot. We've spent the past month working out the logistics and we thank you for your patience. We've incurred a few expenses that we have paid upfront and in order for us to be able to continue this year and into the future and we'll have a donation bucket at the gate with a $2 minimum per car (you can always give us more). There will be a food vendor selling coffee, breakfast sandwiches, water, soda and muffins. There will also be portable toilets. You know the rules.... No speeding to and from the event… No engine revving… No burnouts… Our motto is "If it has wheels, bring it!..and we like dogs too" and so do the folks at Moroso! So be sure to leash your pup and pick up after them. See you Sunday!...”… webmaster’s additional note – Can’t say enough how happy we were to see this new event notice pop up! (***UPDATED FOR 2023***)  SUNDAYS (appears to have started 5/14/2023), Derby (appears to be confirmed for 2023) - Heav’nly Donuts of Derby Summertime Sunday Afternoon Classic Car Cruise Nights, at the Heav’nly Donuts of Derby restaurant, 658 New Haven Avenue, Derby, CT 06418…”… What more can you say then that the Heav'nly Donuts Sunday cruise nights are positively LEGENDARY... For 2023, they started up on Mother's Day afternoon, 5/14/2023, when the twice-annual (Spring & Fall, I believe) "Fill The Crosley" event (classic car cruise that incorporates a food donation to benefit The Spooner Houe) took place... Please be sure to check out the Heav'nly Donuts Facebook page for more info: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100056898385426 Thanks Ernie and Mike, and everyone who make the Heav’nly Donuts classic car cruise nights the great events that they are!... (***UPDATED FOR 2023***)  SUNDAYS (starts 6/11/2023, other specific dates), Killingworth (appears to be confirmed for 2023) - “…’The Parmelee Farm Cruisers Present The First Parmelee Farm Cruise,’ Sunday, June 11th, 3:00pm to 5:00pm, at Parmelee Farm, 465 CT Route 81, Killingworth, CT 06419…”… Quoting from the Parmelee Farm Cruisers’ Facebook post (https://www.facebook.com/CruisersAtParmeleeFarm - make sure to visit and give ‘em a “Like” while you’re there) from within the past day or so: “…The first Parmelee Farm Cruise will be this Sunday June 11 from 3:00 to 5:00. Get out your best wheels and head for the front lawn of Parmelee on Route 81 in Killingworth. Sorry; no Concert after the Cruise this month. From I-91 in Wethersfield, take the CT Route 3 North/Putnam Bridge exit (which I think is Exit #25), cross over the river, take the first exit off of Rt. 3, and you’re pretty much there!... Rockin’ Richard, the legendary DJ who runs the great oldies tunes for these events also indicated the event hours as 5pm to 8pm, as it has traditionally been over the years. Can’t wait to get back to some North Branford “Crusin’” for 2023! Thanks again Ed and Rockin’ Rich!... Additional info - The McDonalds and Dairy Queen who are the host businesses for this cruise night are located at 280 Branford Road, North Branford, CT 06471, part of a larger shopping plaza called I think, “Central Plaza,” and you can think of it as also being located at the intersection of Routes 80 & 139 (I think Route 80 in this area is called “Foxon Road,” and Route 139 in this area is called “Branford Road”)… (this cruise/recurring event was added to this calendar as of 2/20/2023; event start date updated as of 3/19/2023)

Please spread the word and we'll see you soon!...”… Even more info – I decided to look up the actual street address for the Milford McDonalds that’s near the Mall, just in case (since I think there’s at least one other McDonalds in town, over toward the Stratford side of town); I know that 99% of the people reading this event listing know exactly the one that’s being talked about here, since the BS&Gs have held Friday cruise nights there for many years—anyway, it’s: 1376 Boston Post Road, Milford, CT 06460, and I believe it’s technically located within the “Turnpike Square” shopping plaza (reference: https://www.mcdonalds.com/us/en-us/location/ct/milford/1376-post-rd-turnpike-square/6150.html) … And there you have it! Nice to see the return of this very popular Friday night cruise night, and I look forward to stopping in! I believe the cut-off year used to be set at 1981, so the new 1986 cut-off should also yield some interesting new additions to the cruisin’ crowd...  (this cruise/recurring event was added to this calendar as of 4/19/2022)

(**UPDATED FOR 2021**) SATURDAYS (once a month, starts 3/20/2021, runs thru October; see list of dates), Branchburg (NEW JERSEY) (appears to be confirmed for 2021) - “Neshantic Station Car Show,” 7:30am to 1:00pm, 111 Elm Street, Branchburg, NJ 08853…. Quoting from the event flyer posted on the Hemmings dedicated info page (https://www.hemmings.com/events/detail?listing_id=58473) where this event was found (direct flyer link: https://assets.hemmings.com/uimage/77519114-0-0.jpg?rev=1): “…The popular Neshantic Station Flea Market is joined in 2021 by the new Neshantic Station Car Show! The Car Show will be held one Saturday each month from March through October, from 7:30am to 1:00pm… (list of dates): Saturday, March 20 … Saturday, April 17 … Saturday, May 15 … Saturday, June 12 … Saturday, July 17 … Saturday, August 14 … Saturday, September 18 … Saturday, October 16 … Registration: There is no charge for car owners to bring and show their cars, and all antique, classic, and collector cars, trucks, and other vehicles are welcome. We just ask car owners to email us at carshow@nechanic.organd register so we know how many vehicles to expect. In lieu of registration fee, we ask all car owners to bring a cash or food donation for the Somerset County Food Bank… The Car Show is just minutes from Routes 202 and 206. To find the location via GPS, enter “111 Elm Street, Branchburg, NJ”…”… webmaster’s note – Why a car show in New Jersey on the SAAC Calendar? Reason #1 is that it’s a nice early-season event (and we love the early season events), and Reason #2 is that it seems a lot of events more local to us are either not being planned yet (obviously due to COVID concerns), or are being planned and cancelled already (which is exceptionally depressing, and for the same reason), and Reason #3 is that it just plain sounds like fun, and if I have a free Saturday, I’ll definitely consider a drive out there to check it out—if not as a participant, at least as a spectator! New Jersey is a beautiful state to visit!… (this cruise/recurring event was added to this calendar as of 2/25/2021)
