“…Connecticut Author/Classic Car Owner Has New Book, "Great Grilles of the '50s"… (Quoting from the author’s e-mail of 9/20/2029, which had the above subject line): “…Hi, I am a classic car owner and author who lives in Trumbull, CT. My latest coffee table book, "Great Grilles of the '50s," just listed on Amazon and I am writing to see if you might consider posting a brief feature on its release on the SAAC website.  The book features several cars from Connecticut and tells the backstories behind some of the most memorable and iconic automotive designs to come out of Detroit. Below is background on the book, myself and my co-author. I've also attached a promotional flyer from my publisher… Thank you in advance for your consideration… Regards, Mark Misercola… ‘…Great Grilles is a true blast from the past; a deep dive into the backstories behind some of the most iconic front grilles from Detroit’s golden era of automotive design including the 1957 Thunderbird, the 1953 Olds Fiesta and the 1959 Pontiac Bonneville, among others. We even have a chapter on Dagmar bumpers (which really weren’t named after Dagmar)… The book is an outgrowth of our interest in cars from that era. I own three Oldsmobiles, and my co-author, Hank Kaczmarek owns and restores Corvairs… I can send you a digital review copy if you want to see the book in advance. The URLs below will take you to the book listing on MT Publishing's website and on Amazon. If you have any questions or wish to discuss the book, I can be reached at 917-494-8027, or at this email address (misercola@yahoo.com)… Thank you in advance for your consideration… Regards, Mark Misercola…’… AMAZON: https://www.amazon.com/Great-Grills-50s-Mark-Misercola/dp/1949478254/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?keywords=%22great+grills+on+the+%2750s%2C+misercola%22&qid=1568901434&s=gateway&sr=8-1-fkmr0 … MT Publishing: https://mtpublishing.com/index.php/default/great-grilles-of-the-50s.html ...”... SOLD! (as of late January 2019)... FREE TO GOOD HOME AND WILL DELIVER LOCALLY: "Four Toyo ‘Extensa-A/S’ blackwall all-season tires, size 225/60R16, from my 2005 Subaru Outback. I do not know how old or how many miles on these tires, but they look very fresh, and have a ton of tread. They were on the car when I bought it at the end of October 2018, and I have driven approximately 3,000 miles on them, before taking them off of the car near the end of December 2018 (when my alternate set of black steelies and tires were ready to go on)… Please note that I have noticed a screw head stuck in one of the tires, but it has NOT leaked any air. I still have to get them removed from the original Subaru alloy wheels (the wheels are NOT part of these deal, JUST the tires), but here are PICTURES:http://www.shorelineantiqueautoconnection.com/ToyosFromTheSubyOutbackA.jpg ... http://www.shorelineantiqueautoconnection.com/ToyosFromTheSubyOutbackB.jpghttp://www.shorelineantiqueautoconnection.com/ToyosFromTheSubyOutbackC-ApparentScrew.jpg … If you feel you can use them, I will deliver the tires to your location in the local area, next chance I get... Contact: commongear@aol.com …" (this notice was placed by the SAAC webmaster early January 2019)

Wanted

NO LONGER LOOKING FOR THESE ITEMS... (as of summer 2021... sorry--asleep on the switch here getting this ad updated--we have found what we were looking for--thanks for everyone's help!)...WANTED – Components for, I think, ’87-’96 Ford F150 & larger pickup truck under bed spare tire carrier… We recently purchased a used ’97 F250 from a private party, which uses the “primitive” early type “swing down cradle” type carrier for the spare tire—except that ours did not come with the cradle parts nor the spare tire itself. I’m not worried about finding a usable spare, but would like to assemble a working factory spare tire carrier assembly that’s proper for this truck. I got under there and found that I do have a couple of the parts, but need more of the major parts, like the cradle that the tire actually rests on, plus that funky “eye” (or “j-hook”) bolt, and also the bolt that goes up thru the center of the tire, and the plastic piece that the bolt threads into, that sits on top of the tire. Any info or leads on where to find these parts—thanks, Steve the SAAC editor. UPDATE: I did a little more work and created a “wanted diagram” (showing a lot of these things, in both diagram and image presentation) that you can now view at the following link: http://www.shorelineantiqueautoconnection.com/97FordF250PickupSpareTireCarrier-DiagramOfStuffNeeded.jpg ... Contact me (Steve the SAAC webmaster): CommonGear@aol.com ... (this notice posted 11 March 2021)

WANTED – Looking For 1955 Chevy 2-Door Parts… Exterior light chrome… Steering box… Gas tank… And much more… Would consider a donor car… Contact: John or Gary at Stony Creek Auto, 203-488-7868… (this notice transcribed from a 12 Nov. 2020 postmarked correspondence, posted 14 November 2020)

WANTED – 14” diameter, 4x130 bolt pattern wheels… I know this is a long shot posting this wanted ad here, but sometimes people know people with parts, and so I think it never hurts to get the word out there… I’m looking to recapture some of the “magic” (ha ha) that I enjoyed on several occasions with my former ’69 Bug by putting together another interesting set of 14” diameter wheels (and then have some fun finding some cool tires to go with them after that)… There were several aftermarket 14” “mags” sold back in the day for four-bolt VW Bugs (the stock rim diameter is 15”), and I’ve owned a few over the years—which, unfortunately have also gone onto other owners since then… From research I’ve done, there were also some specific Lancia wheels that were 14” diameter with a 4x130 bolt pattern, but I’m sure those are even harder to find (but if you know of any sets, please let me know!)… Here’s my “wanted” ad on TheSamba.com that gives a few more details about what I’m looking for: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=2428044 … Contact me: CommonGear@aol.com ... Thanks for any help!... (this notice posted by the SAAC editor, 14 November 2020)
